Rosacea make up

Even when rosacea is well controlled flare ups may still happen. In these situations some form of cover up make up is often helpful. Products are available that help to mask the intense redness of a rosacea flare up. They contain a green pigment which helps to reduce the red colour due to the principles of colour subtraction.

White light consists of three primary colours, red, blue and green. When white light hits red rosacea skin the red wavelengths are not absorbed by the skin but are reflected giving the appreance of red skin. The different colour wavelengths are absorbed by certain pigments. In the case of the red light wavelength it is absorbed by green pigment. Therefore a green tinted make up will absorb the red light wavelengths and prevent them from being reflected. The skin therefore appears less red.

Products are available for both men and women.
